Independent director · Advisory board · Observer

Board and advisory seats for fintech and crypto founders.

I'm a global treasurer with 20+ years across treasury, finance operations and risk management in fintech, crypto and cross-border payments. Most recently I led global treasury operations at Kraken ahead of its IPO, across fiat and digital assets. Before that I ran treasury and finance operations at Remitly through its scale from $500M to $1B in revenue, and served as a director of its FCA-regulated UK entity. Earlier I led enterprise risk for Meta FinTech, ran consumer payments risk at Amazon, and was a VP at J.P. Morgan.

Where I fit

Send for me when the board needs one of these.

Most early-stage boards have investors and founders, and nobody who has run treasury, controls or risk inside a regulated financial company. These are the three situations where that gap costs the most.

Finance operations & SOX

IPO readiness, audit remediation, and a clean SOX record after clearing every prior finding.

  • Audit committee readiness and auditor relationship
  • Control design, segregation of duties, remediation plans
  • Finance operating cadence a listed company can sustain

Treasury & banking

Fiat and stablecoin liquidity, FX, custody, and bank concentration. I moved Remitly's operating payments off SVB in March 2023.

  • Bank partner diversification and counterparty limits
  • Liquidity, funding and hedging oversight
  • Digital asset custody and treasury governance

Regulatory operations

License applications, exams, safeguarding, and the risk program behind a bank charter application.

  • Risk appetite, ERM and Board risk reporting
  • Examiner and regulator engagement
  • Safeguarding and permissible investment oversight

How it works

Simple terms, disclosed upfront.

The shape of a seat is set with the founders and the lead investor before anything is signed.

Seat

Advisory board, independent director, or observer

Seed through growth-stage companies in fintech, payments, lending, cross-border and digital assets.

Time

Around 20 hours a month

Board prep, meetings, and working sessions with the CFO or founders between meetings.

Compensation

Equity, cash, or a mix

Equity preferred at early stage, on standard advisor or director terms.

Conflicts

Disclosed, always

I disclose every board and advisory position I hold and don't take seats at direct competitors.
